Are your swimmers guilty of:

• Going on a travel swim meet and spending all their free time in the hotel pool (even though it's 4' deep and maybe 30' long?)
• Begging to go back to the hotel pool after just a half a day at that expensive theme park?
• Befriending the neighborhood kid with the in-ground pool as soon as June hits each year?
• Blue Lips & Chattering Teeth ("But Mom, the water isn't THAT cold")

Convinced that our kids suffer from some strange combination of chlorine addiction and physical need to kick their feet under water we think it's only fitting we give them what they want -- Summer Swimming.

Fortunately our USA Swimmers have lots of meets to swim at during the summer. Let's give our YMCA swimmers the same advantage. Summer is a great time for a fun themed meet, wacky races (coaches and the C Relayers, mixed age groups, heat prizes), co-hosting meets (an excellent idea for those teams with new coaches and less experienced volunteers) and team bonding. Is your pool located near a great summer attraction (beach, amusement park, state park, country fair, lobster festival, summer theatre, sporting event, etc.) that you can incorporate into a weekend of fun for travelling teams? Maybe a meet celebrating this summer's Olympics even!
